I just needed to change the letter path on my external ssd after I reformatted it like 3 times for the computer to recognize it again. I do have one more idea that might work, though not ideal, only UEFI can boot a GPT drive, if your machine booted up using the old fashioned BIOS it couldn't I'd been reading "other" site with "how to", nothing as clear and concise as the above. But when I right click it I cannot choose the options to CHange Drive Letter or Format.
