Microsoft, you suck!!! I have 5.1 speaker system, worked perfectly on XP, Not VISTA solved Previously Working System Freezing/BSOD New motherboard, installing new usb 3.0 drivers works great until reboot, then BSoD. Please.. Still hate Vista but they told me I have to upgrade my memory (1Gb to 2??) in order to upgrade to Win7.

I had a problem that sounds similar to Anthony's, although I was aware as it was happening it was likely hard drive death. If so, see if the computer will boot from a disk. The list of issues I have come across, but I'm sure are not limited to: Drivers (Sound, Video, USB ports, and wireless interface devices.)Power issues such as batteries no longer charging Comparison: Windows Vista & XP Pro SP2 With Intel Quad Q6600?

All I can say is good luck. Locate a Restore point that is before the SP2 installation. I uninstalled and reinstalled Silverlight but still stuck while "loading". https://whatsonmypc.wordpress.com/2009/06/09/vistasp2-2/ SP2 will remain hidden, I've tried Windows 7 and have had driver issues. This is completely aggravatiing, and I'm upset with MS over it. Windows will not start.

same result.i have done a bios update to the latest version... Now it's pooped. But, we're stuck. Computer is a Gateway Avalon-SR (M-series, 6884h), 32 bit system.

It chirps once when it turns on. That single "chirp" you hear at start up is your computer running a POST test. 1 beep is supposed to mean that the hardware has passed the test. It is clearly full of faults and I think it is terrible that I am expected to pay again to get Windows 7. Reply Bill says: February 16, 2010 at 6:15 am I had a similar round of issues with SP2.

Once it is finished, in the Control Panel, locate Windows Update and tell it to "hide" the SP2 update. it's very slow , it can not ready USB devices, not even memory cards. But for those who have not installed Vista SP2 I still suggest not doing it.
