im having the same problem. I don't think it was the virus itself, rather because I ran Smitfraud as one of the 'solutions'. So I unchecked it, but as soon as I go out of the menu box or even reboot the computer, the disable box is checked again. He got to a point hwere he realised that you could only do this with downloads purchased from their online store, so he abandoned the exercise.

If you want to do this you will need you Windows XP disc, if you have installed SP3 you will need that slipstreamed onto Windows XP CD. my review here so I do "net start System Restore Service" and it says it was enabled successfulyl yet no go. Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post. If you're experiencing a system problem, re-enabling System Restore won't help because you won't have any old snapshots to restore.
